Kokanee Salmon (Sept 13th 2013)
This is a reflection written by a student in Grade 4.
I went on a hike with my class to the River of Golden Dreams and we saw one hundred of the Kokanee Salmon. The Kokanee Salmon swim quite fast if you look closely. Kokanee Salmon are a beautiful colour of red. My Teacher (Mr. Smith) showed my class little videos of the Kokanee Salmon. When we went to go see the Kokanee Salmon they were not spawning yet.
I also learned that Kokanee Salmon and Sockeye Salmon are the same kind of fish.
When we went to the River of Golden dreams, my class and Mrs. Smart’s class went all together as a big learning community. When it was time to go back to the school we walked all together, but by the time we were half way up the hill the dismissal bell rang.
It was a very fun day and I learned a lot!
